Polarity Yoga is a system of physical exercise that works on the energetic level. Polarity Yoga is one component of Polarity Therapy, and is based on the same five element system (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether). Polarity Yoga exercises support full expression of a particular element by stimulating the zones in the body related to that element, and also by using movement of a quality related to that element. For example, Earth element exercises tend to be static postures stable on the ground, without fast movements. In contrast, Air element exercises tend to be fast-moving, silly, and fun, stimulating the heart chakra and the qualities of joy and playfulness.
There are also exercises specifically focused on balancing the brain and nervous system. Not all of these are Polarity Yoga exercises. Some of them come from a system called "Brain Gym" which is, as you might suspect, a workout for your brain.
If it seems relevant to your session, I may suggest a Polarity Yoga exercise that you can do on your own to continue to move towards balance in a particular area. The goal is to empower you to maintain your health and energetic equilibrium on your own.
You do not have to be strong or extremely limber to begin benefitting from Polarity Yoga. The exercises were designed for Westerners before Yoga was popular, and are simple and gentle. Because these exercises work on an energetic level, simply going through the motions stimulates the necessary energy zones. The exercises can produce amazing results, even if done for just a few minutes a day.
I am also available for private instruction for individuals and groups. My office can accommodate up to four people. For larger classes, space needs to be arranged. Polarity Yoga classes need to be designed with the participants in mind, so please contact me at least two weeks in advance of your intended event.
In addition to Polarity Yoga, I am also trained in Qigong, T'ai Chi, Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Exercise Therapy (an advanced form of physical therapy). I can work with you to custom-design a physical exercise and energetic development program that incorporates elements of any of these forms, taking into account your current energetic and physical status, your abilities, and your goals.
